What is an evaluation day, and why is it required?
An evaluation day allows us to assess your dog’s temperament, comfort level, and behavior in our fast-paced daycare and boarding environment.
We observe how your dog:Adjusts to our facility and staff
Handles kennel time
Responds to new dogs
Plays socially or prefers space
Manages stimulation, noise, and transitions
This ensures we place your dog in the safest and most appropriate setting—whether that’s a social playgroup or a non-social boarding option.
Who needs an evaluation?
All first-time dogs
Dogs who have not attended daycare or boarding in 8 months or longer
Recently adopted dogs who have not yet been evaluated
Evaluations must be completed before booking daycare or boarding.
My dog was recently adopted from a shelter or rescue — can they attend daycare right away?
For the wellbeing of your pet and the safety of our playgroups, dogs adopted from shelters or rescues must be in their new home for a minimum of 3 weeks before attending daycare or completing their evaluation day.
This transition period allows your dog time to:
Decompress
Adjust to their new routine
Build trust with their family
Show their true temperament outside of the shelter environment
This helps us get a more accurate evaluation and ensures your dog is comfortable before joining a busy social setting.
When are evaluations offered?
Evaluations are offered:
Monday through Friday only
Drop-off: 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
Pick-up: Anytime after 3:00 PM (up to closing)

Your dog’s evaluation includes:
A brief intake and behavioral history review
Slow, controlled introductions to staff and individual dogs
Gradual transition into a small, appropriate playgroup (if social)
Supervised outdoor rotations
Observation during kennel time
Monitoring of stress signals, comfort, and overall behavior throughout the day
We move at your dog’s pace, and safety is our top priority.
Will my dog be on a leash during introductions?
Yes. Dogs are always introduced one-on-one, on a leash, to ensure safe and clear communication.
Once your dog is comfortable and responding well, we slowly transition them into group play (if social). Can I book daycare or boarding on the same day as my evaluation?
Evaluations must be completed successfully before daycare or boarding can be scheduled.
Most dogs go home after the evaluation and return for daycare or boarding on a later date. How long does the evaluation take?
Evaluations last the full daycare day, typically from drop-off (7–9 AM) until any time after 3 PM.
This gives us enough time to evaluate:Playstyle
Energy levels
Stress tolerance
Kennel comfort
Recovery after stimulation
Does my dog have to be social to pass the evaluation?
Not necessarily. We evaluate both social and non-social dogs.
Social dogs → join group play if appropriate
Non-social dogs → may still board with us if they are people-friendly and manageableIf a dog is not suitable for group play, we can offer non-social boarding based on availability and care needs. Additional fees may apply.

Yes — selectively.
We can evaluate dogs who are:Shy
Nervous
Selective with other dogs
Unsure in new environments
However, dogs who show:

What if my pet needs medication during daycare?
We can administer medications during daycare as well.
Please inform the front desk during drop-off and bring medications in their original containers. -
Do you accept senior pets or pets with medical conditions?
Yes — we accept many senior pets and pets with medical needs, as long as we can safely meet their care requirements.
We closely evaluate each pet’s needs to determine whether boarding or daycare is appropriate.Pets who may require special care include:
Senior or geriatric pets (typically 12+ years)
Pets with mobility issues or arthritis
Pets with chronic medical conditions
Pets requiring multiple medications
Pets with anxiety or stress-related sensitivities
Pets with autoimmune or immune-compromising illnesses
Pets recovering from past medical procedures (case-by-case)
Do senior or special-needs pets require anything before boarding?
Yes — any senior pet (12+), medically fragile pet, or pet with complex care requirements will need to complete our Special Care Waiver before their stay.
This helps us understand:
Medical needs
Mobility limitations
Behavioral needs
Daily medication routines
Any risks that may affect boarding or daycare
Is there an extra fee for pets with special needs?
Yes — pets requiring a higher level of monitoring or individualized care may incur a Special-Care Fee, which is added on top of the non-social rate when applicable.
This fee may apply to pets who require:
Multiple daily medications (5+)
Mobility support (lifting, harness assistance, etc.)
Frequent check-ins on pet
Specialized feeding routines
Additional staff time or modifications to their care plan
Individualized exercise or potty breaks
Fees are determined based on your pet’s specific care needs.
Can senior or medically fragile pets participate in daycare?
It depends on the pet.
Daycare can be overstimulating or physically demanding for some older or fragile dogs. We evaluate each pet individually and may recommend:Shorter daycare days
Modified playgroups
Limited activity
Non-social routines
The goal is always to keep your pet comfortable, safe, and stress-free.
What happens if my pet becomes too anxious or stressed during their stay?
If a pet shows ongoing anxiety despite routine adjustments, we may:
Provide additional rest breaks
Adjust their activity levels
Switch them to a quieter part of the facility
Move them to a non-social routine if appropriate
If anxiety persists, we may recommend:
Speaking with your veterinarian about anxiety medication for future stays
Considering in-home boarding options if the environment remains too overwhelming
Pet wellbeing always comes first.
Can you accommodate pets with mobility issues?
In many cases, yes.
We can assist with:Gentle support while walking
Orthopedic bedding (if provided)

Extra time for movement
Slower, individualized routines
